The exhibition “Veljko Vlahović – The Voice of Free Yugoslavia”, realised by the Museum of Yugoslavia in collaboration with the National Museum of Montenegro and authored by Božena Miljić and Ljiljana Karadžić, chronologically and thematically touches upon key historical events that Vlahović witnessed and participated in, such as the student demonstrations of the 1930s, the Spanish Civil War, and World War II, as well as his social and political engagement in post-war Yugoslavia. Simultaneously, it maps the sphere of his private space and life, to the extent that it shaped his political path.

The concept of the spatial setting involved creating a new physical space within the right hall of the Museum of Yugoslavia. The spatial structure was treated simultaneously as a kind of ephemeral “monument” to Veljko Vlahović while also serving as the primary functional element for the exhibition. The physical exhibition space was divided into two spatial levels – the first, which comprises the exterior of the structure, showcases Veljko Vlahović’s public work. The interior of the spatial structure creates an intimate, private space of Veljko Vlahović, where his living environment has been “recreated.”

A separate segment of the exterior space is the farthest corner of the room, where a graphical representation of a map is displayed, marking all the places/streets/institutions named after Veljko Vlahović. On the windows of the Museum building, a transparent coloured film was installed, corresponding to the colours of the visual identity, thus adding a new spatial level of communication between the exhibition and the exterior—connecting it with the city, the street, and even the distant locations represented on the map.
